Getting started with Talend and Hortonworks

Talend Open Studio for Big Data is a powerful and versatile open source data integration tool. Talend provides data managers, operators, and analysts a graphical tool that abstracts the underlying Hadoop complexities and dramatically improves the efficiency of job design through an easy-to-use Eclipse development environment.

Talend and Hortonworks in the Modern Data Architecture

In this tutorial we will show you how to start using Hortonworks and Talend Studio for Big data.

In order to start this tutorial, we will need to have the following pre-requisites

  • VirtualBox
  • Hortonworks sandbox, you get from here
  • Talend open studio for Big Data

Once you get all these software you can start

Run your sandbox

Hortonworks Sandbox

after your machine is started, you will see this screen.

Leave all the default parameters.

Hortonworks Sandbox

then now go to your local browser ( in you local machine ) and access >

you should have the following screen

HortonWorks Talend


Login to Ambari :

you can login maria_dev/maria_dev

however here, we are going to login as admin, in order to do that, you need to go to the console and type :

# Updates password

 Reset Passwork Ambari Hortonworks


Now you can login into Ambari as admin.

if you reached this point, Great.

Now we will start using Talend. for this demo we will use TOS for Big data v6.1.1
